
Fixing a blank Language Selector

Source of suggested language
Decide how Geos selects the language shown in the language selector on your popup:
Option 1: Customer’s browser language (default on Free plan)
When a customer visits your store, Geos detects their browser language and automatically suggests that language in the language selector, when the language is available.
If customer’s browser language is not supported, it will suggest your store’s default language instead.
Example:
If your store supports English (default), French, and Spanish:
— A customer with French set in their browser will see French suggested.
— A customer with Japanese set will see English (default), since Japanese isn’t supported
Option 2: Language configured in Shopify Markets
With this option, language selector will not detect browser languages and automatically suggest the language configured for each market in the settings of Shopify Markets.
If a country has multiple languages set, Geos will suggest the official language of that country.
Language redirection
Decide what happens if a customer is in the right market (correct country/currency) but the store language doesn’t match their browser language.
Option 1: Show popup (default on Free plan)
A popup will appear asking the customer if they want to switch the store language to their browser language.
Example:
A customer from France visits the English version of your French store. If their browser language is set to French and your store supports it, Geos will show a popup suggesting they switch to French.
This option is recommended for GDPR-regulated regions, where storing customer choices (like cache or saved country) may not be allowed. By showing the popup every time, Geos avoids saving personal data and stays compliant with privacy laws.
Option 2: Auto switch language to match customer’s browser when language is supported
The store language will change automatically to match the customer’s browser language, as long as that language is supported.
Example:
A customer from France visits the English version of your French store. If their browser is set to French and your store supports it, Geos will automatically switch the language to French—no popup needed.
